Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo has partnered with the Ali Forney Center, Greenwich House’s Network of Older Adult Centers, and SAGE (Advocacy & Services for LGBT Elders) since 2017 to offer a selection of no-cost classes and workshops geared towards seniors and LGBTQ+ youth.
Fall 2023
In partnership with Greenwich House’s Network of Older Adult Centers and SAGE (Advocacy & Services for LGBT Elders), the Trocks’ Education Manager (and former ballerina Agrippina Proboskovna) Roy Fialkow will lead classical ballet class designed especially for the ‘senior artiste.’
Participants have the opportunity to put their name in lights alongside the likes of legendary Trockadero personas like Dame Margot Loweyn-Octeyn, Ida Nevasayneva and Yuri Smirnov. Through a series of workshops, attendees will discover their inner Trockadero persona. Each class will use a different facet of the Trockadero repertory as a basis for choreography and creative work by participants.
No dance experience is necessary. Get yourself in the best shape possible while celebrating moments of hilarity in the tradition of the Trocks.
Clothes that you can move in and sneakers that you can dance in are suggested.
Schedules for these NYC-based workshops will be located on our partners’ websites:
With gratitude…
The Trocks’ FREE Dance Engagement and Education program in NYC is made possible thanks to support from The Max and Victoria Dreyfus Foundation, The Rallis Foundation, The Howard Gilman Foundation, Shubert Foundation, The Harkness Foundation for Dance, and NYU Community Fund; and public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
